But Regarding Beef... Carcass Weight vs. Processed Weight

Apples to Apples

Typically, you would be quoted carcass/hanging weight in buying a 1/4, 1/2 or full beef.  The weights above are what you will actually load into you freezer (Processed Weight). The processed weight is 35-40% less than the carcass/hanging weight.

1/2 Beef

    360 lb hanging @ $8.71/bl  

= 224 lbs processed @ $14/lb

= $3,136
